A Musical Tribute to The Beatles
Jodi Drew was born and raised in New York City, with her very first gig at the famous MAX'S KANSAS CITY with her band du jour known as "STRAY CATS." No, not THOSE Stray Cats, but a band name that pre-dated Brian Setzer's Stray Cats fame.
She continued on, performing at all the NYC club staples such as CBGB’S, TRAX, and GREAT GILDERSLEEVES until moving to Arizona in 1984. She credits her big-singing, mixed-genre-style, to influences from early Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Barbara Streisand (BABS!) and Aretha Franklin all rolled into one.
After 6 months in Arizona, she started playing in a local band, All Systems Go, playing corporate functions, hotel, civic, and private parties. Through several personnel changes, All Systems Go eventually morphed into Jodi Drew & The Bottom Line. But she especially enjoys singing in Marmalade Skies with the 5 other talented musicians.
Jodi always loved the Beatles growing up and Marmalade Skies is what she does for fun. A quote from Jodi from a recent magazine article about Marmalade Skies, “Beatles music is brilliant, simplistic music on the outside, and the most complex and difficult to reproduce on the inside”.
She says when she is singing this great music and the vocals gel, it is heaven on earth. Who wouldn’t want to sing it?
